Italy and Nigeria are working on a cooperation agreement in Defense: Nigerian police trained by the Carabinieri

Italy and Nigeria are advancing towards a defense cooperation agreement, focusing on training Nigerian police by the Carabinieri. This was discussed during a meeting between Italian Defense Chief General Luciano Portolano and Nigerian officials, including Defense Minister General Christopher Gwabin Musa. The dialogue aims to address security challenges, including counter-drone and counter-explosive training, as Nigeria acquires Italian aircraft. Maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea is also a priority, with Italy's naval presence since 2020 enhancing cooperation with the Nigerian Navy. The collaboration seeks to strengthen military ties through structured institutional dialogue and training opportunities.
