Italian priest Don Benedetto leaves Limburg on his own initiative: "Language requirement of the diocese of Hasselt is too heavy"

Italian priest Don Benedetto is returning to Italy due to difficulties in mastering the Dutch language, which he needed to meet the requirements set by the Hasselt diocese. Despite being granted additional time to achieve the necessary language level, he decided to leave his position in Limburg. This departure leaves the Italian community with only two priests instead of three, raising concerns about the community's pastoral care. His colleague, Don Gregorio, expressed disappointment over the loss, highlighting the challenges of fulfilling pastoral duties while under pressure to learn a new language. Don Gian Franco will now take over the mass celebrations in Mariaheide, where Benedetto previously served.
