VAT, housing and banana: JPP's bets for 2027

The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party proposed that the Madeira budget for 2027 should include VAT reduction, public housing initiatives, support for banana growers, and funding for a new port ramp. JPP leader Élvio Sousa emphasized the need for a 3% VAT cut to benefit families and businesses. The party also aims to establish agreements with municipalities for public housing development and suggests fixing the banana price at €1.36 per kilogram. Additionally, they advocate for a new port ramp to facilitate a potential ferry service between Madeira and the mainland. JPP is the largest opposition party in Madeira's parliament, holding 11 out of 47 seats.
