Is the exact date of Van Gogh's "Starry Night" known?

Recent research suggests that Van Gogh's "Starry Night" may have been inspired by a night in July 1889, rather than June as previously believed. A team of South Korean researchers utilized astronomy, meteorology, and mathematical analysis to determine that the painting reflects the sky as seen from the asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence on July 22, 1889. Key discrepancies in lunar phases and the positions of celestial bodies, particularly Venus and the Hyades star cluster, support this new date. The study highlights the importance of accurate astronomical data in understanding artistic inspiration and was published in Scientific Reports.
