Japan records a trade deficit of 3.02 billion euros in September

In September, Japan recorded a trade deficit of 536.5 billion yen (3.02 billion euros), marking the fifth consecutive month of deficit due to rising oil prices. This deficit nearly doubled compared to the same month in 2025. Exports increased by 16.7% year-on-year, reaching 10.9 trillion yen, driven by mineral fuels and semiconductors. However, imports rose even more, by 18.9%, totaling 11.5 trillion yen, largely due to increased oil purchases. Japan's trade with China resulted in a deficit of nearly 1.03 trillion yen, while it had a surplus with the United States. The deficit with the EU decreased significantly compared to last year.
