"It is in your interest," Russia offers cooperation to the new Serbian government

Russia aims to maintain cooperation with Serbia following the recent parliamentary elections, where a student movement won a majority. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed hope for constructive relations with the new Serbian government. The previous leader, Aleksandar Vučić, had fostered close ties with Moscow while balancing EU aspirations. Serbia has not joined Western sanctions against Russia post-invasion of Ukraine, maintaining its reliance on Russian gas and support regarding Kosovo. The student movement opposes sanctions against Russia, leaving room for potential EU rapprochement, which could affect Serbia's ties with Moscow.
