Jean-Paul Huchon, former socialist president of the Île-de-France region, passed away at 80 due to cancer. He led the region from 1998 to 2015 and served as mayor of Conflans-Saint-Honorine and chief of staff to Michel Rocard. In June 2024, he received a suspended sentence for illegal interests, along with a fine and a year of ineligibility, deemed symbolic by the court as he was no longer in office.
