Young people are still struggling with the corona period. 'Not being able to see your friends due to government measures. That's tough'

Young people aged 16 to 25 have been significantly affected by the mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, with ongoing issues stemming from isolation and government measures. A report presented to Minister Sophie Hermans highlights that while some improvements were noted by the end of 2025, mental health levels have not returned to pre-pandemic standards. The study indicates that those living alone or in urban areas, as well as those with pre-existing mental health issues, were particularly hard hit. The report emphasizes the need for better monitoring of youth well-being during crises and suggests that future policies should involve consultations with affected groups to foster understanding and support.
