Youth cause nuisance in the Maasland: Lanaken, Maasmechelen and Maastricht want to tackle the problem together

Lanaken, Maasmechelen, and Maastricht are collaborating to address youth-related disturbances in their border region. A group of youths has been causing issues, including threats and vandalism. Mayor Marino Keulen emphasizes the need for a preventive approach rather than solely punitive measures. The SAFI project aims to provide better guidance for these youths, involving schools and parents. A subsidy of 120,000 euros has been requested from the Flemish government to support this initiative.
