Journalists brutalized at the RN congress: the press must be able to work freely, warn 44 journalist organizations

On October 24, during the National Rally congress in Orléans, four Mediapart journalists faced aggressive treatment from the party's security, being forcibly removed from the meeting. Despite their attempts to perform their journalistic duties, they were met with hostility from attendees. The following day, another Mediapart reporter was forcibly evacuated while covering an action by the Union of Jewish Students of France, highlighting ongoing safety concerns for journalists at the event. A Politis journalist also experienced aggression when his phone was damaged by attendees. The incidents raise serious concerns about press freedom and the treatment of journalists at political events, emphasizing the need for political parties to ensure journalists can operate without obstruction.
