German youths call for national protest against budget cuts and military service reinforcement
Young Germans are set to protest in over 20 cities against rising living costs, budget cuts in education and social services, and military service reforms. Organized by movements "GenZ regelt" and "GenZ steht auf", they demand increased investment in education and social protection. Over 140,000 have expressed intent to join, with major gatherings expected in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, and Cologne. The protests aim for peaceful expression, distancing from violence seen in other European youth protests. Authorities are preparing for potential disturbances, especially with Halloween coinciding with the protests. Political opinions are divided, with some fearing extremist involvement while others support the youth's right to protest.
