Young Europeans demand urgent meeting with Von der Leyen
The European Youth Forum and national youth councils from 28 countries have urgently requested a meeting with the European Commission President regarding recent protests across Europe. In a letter to Ursula von der Leyen, they express concerns over protests related to housing and education, emphasizing the distinction between peaceful protests and violence. They condemn violent actions from both some protesters and authorities. The letter calls for the Youth Advisory Council to be convened before the European Council meeting in December. Youth representatives demand that restrictions on protests do not silence young voices and that governments protect them from political violence. Recent protests have intensified in various cities, particularly in Spain and France, with significant demonstrations in Portugal as well.
