Next week, the National Assembly will decide on the Chief Prosecutor.
Next week, the Hungarian Parliament will vote on the new chief prosecutor, as announced by the Prime Minister on Facebook. Péter Magyar mentioned that the Parliament will also vote on a proposal to make December 24 a public holiday starting this year. The President of the Republic nominated Péter Fejes, a former deputy prosecutor of Vas County, for the position. The previous chief prosecutor, Gábor Bálint Nagy, resigned on July 22, and his term ended on August 25. The Tisza faction rejected the nomination of Zoltán Szathmáry, citing concerns over his brother's involvement in a criminal case related to a money transport incident. The chief prosecutor is elected by the Parliament for a nine-year term based on the President's proposal, requiring a two-thirds majority of votes.
