Next year, Pussy Riot, banned in Russia, will perform in Budapest
The Russian feminist punk collective Pussy Riot will perform at the House of Hungarian Music on April 23, 2027, presenting their show "Riot Days," which combines music, theater, and political performance. The performance draws from the experiences of the collective, particularly focusing on resistance against dictatorship, and is based on the works of member Maria Alyokhina. Pussy Riot gained international attention in 2012 after a guerrilla performance in a Moscow cathedral led to Alyokhina's imprisonment. The group has faced ongoing conflict with the Putin regime, including imprisonment of its members and the establishment of the independent media outlet Mediazona. In late 2025, Pussy Riot was labeled an extremist organization in Russia and banned, with five members sentenced to 13 years in absentia for spreading false information about the military.
