Next year, the three blue hiking trails will connect, and the Blue Circle will indeed become walkable.

Next autumn marks a milestone for Hungarian hiking as the 75th anniversary of the National Blue Trail will see the three blue trails connect, making the Blue Circle truly walkable for the first time. Currently, the trails do not form a complete loop, as the Southern Transdanubian Blue Trail meets the National and Alföld Blue Trails at different points, requiring a 35 km walk between them. The Hungarian Hiking Association has long planned to rectify this situation. The National Blue Trail will now include the upper terminus of the Pálházi State Forest Railway and connect to Telkibánya, a scenic area in the Zemplén Mountains, with its endpoint shifting to Sátoraljaújhely to finally meet the increasingly popular Alföld Blue Trail. The association informs hikers in advance about the changes, allowing those interested to still hike the old route.
