Judoka Sofia Gaspar wins silver and gives Portugal its first medal at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games

Portuguese judoka Sofia Gaspar won silver in the -52 kg category at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, marking Portugal's first medal in Dakar. She lost to Kazakhstan's Fatima Supygaliyeva in the final after 2.33 minutes. Gaspar, who previously carried the national flag at the opening ceremony, secured the 13th medal for Portugal in four editions of the event. She advanced to the final after defeating Belgium's Viktoria Grigoryan and Moldova's Alexandra Chiron in earlier rounds.
