Cabinet resumes talks with opposition, but agreement still not in sight

The Dutch cabinet is negotiating with opposition parties for support on next year's tax plan, but no breakthrough has been achieved yet. Talks with JA21 and BBB revealed that JA21's leader demands firm commitments regarding asylum seeker reception laws, which the cabinet is reluctant to provide. Other parties, including PRO and SGP, also link their support to additional demands. Prime Minister Jetten emphasized the need for discussions to focus on the tax plan itself, highlighting its importance for future tax regulations. The deadline for voting on the plan is November 12, and delays could jeopardize measures like fuel tax reductions. Additionally, there is still no resolution on the wealth tax issue, with disagreements on funding remaining unresolved.
