Cabinet meets opposition with, among other things, more money for police
The Dutch cabinet has proposed changes to its tax plan, including delaying the VAT increase on flowers to 2029. Additional funding for police and the Public Prosecution Service is planned, with an annual increase of 15 to 25 million euros. The cabinet also intends to maintain the tax deduction for specific healthcare costs temporarily while seeking alternative support measures for chronically ill individuals. However, the specifics of these measures remain unclear. The Senate's majority support for the plan is uncertain, as it relies on votes from parties like BBB or PRO, whose positions will be clarified soon.
