Cabinet invests 450 million euros in fund to protect rainforest
The Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF) aims to raise $25 billion from governments and $100 billion from companies to protect tropical forests globally. Norway pledged $3 billion but requires a total of $10 billion by 2026 to proceed. Currently, $7.84 billion has been committed, leaving over $2 billion needed. The Dutch contribution of $500 million is politically pledged but still under exploration. The Dutch government plans to increase climate financing after previous cuts. Brazilian President Lula da Silva's re-election is seen positively for rainforest protection efforts, as he has focused on reducing deforestation.
