They attacked the country's only two Michelin-starred restaurant with a hammer
A new Hungarian documentary titled "The Taste of Democracy" will premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, showcasing the inner workings of Hungary's only two Michelin-star restaurant, Onyx. Filmmakers Péter Aka and Ambrus Fráter spent five years documenting the restaurant's staff and management as they navigated a radical shift towards a more democratic kitchen structure, led by owner Anna Niszkács. The film captures the turmoil as the restaurant faces the loss of its Michelin star and internal conflicts escalate, culminating in a dramatic moment where staff resort to violence against the establishment. The full documentary will be available to the Hungarian audience at the Budapest International Documentary Festival in January 2027.
