Pirates seized an Iranian ship

Somali pirates have seized an Iranian fishing vessel with 23 people on board, raising concerns about potential further attacks. The Indian Ocean Maritime Security Centre reported that 12 pirates took control of the ship, which had a crew of 21 Iranians and 2 Somali security officers. The EU's Atalanta mission is investigating the incident. This seizure adds to the growing threat in the region, already destabilized by the Iranian conflict and Houthi attacks in Yemen. Between April and August, Somali pirates captured six commercial vessels, indicating a resurgence in piracy activities.
