Majority in the House wants, at the initiative of Volt and CDA, a total ban on AI in primary education

A majority in the Dutch Parliament, led by Volt and CDA, is advocating for a total ban on generative AI in primary education. They believe that young students develop critical thinking and creativity in primary school, and that generative AI poses risks to these skills. The motion, supported by several parties, requests the government to include this ban in the Digitalization Management Plan for education. The PO-Raad, representing primary education, acknowledges the concerns but finds the proposed total ban sudden and prefers discussions with the ministry and experts to establish appropriate guidelines.
