"Gergely Karácsony, you don't need such low-level distortions" – a scuffle broke out between the mayor and the district leaders of Budapest

Gergely Karácsony criticized two district mayors for leaving a meeting to speak to the media, claiming they misrepresented his statements. The mayors, Tamás Soproni and András Pikó, accused him of dishonesty regarding budget cuts affecting their districts. The Budapest Municipalities Association (BÖSZ) rejected political intentions that pit the city against district governments and emphasized the need for increased funding for all districts. Tensions have escalated since the establishment of the Capital Development Council, particularly over parking revenue redistribution, which districts fear will lead to significant financial losses. The BÖSZ supports various initiatives, including the return of Margitsziget to the XIII district and better funding for local governments.
