Katie Douglass breaks the world record in the 100 meters freestyle in short course

Katie Douglass set a new world record in the 100-meter freestyle short course, clocking 49.64 seconds at the U.S. trials in Westmont, Illinois. This performance surpassed her previous record of 49.93 seconds established in October 2025. Additionally, Douglass matched the world record for the 50-meter freestyle, held by her training partner Gretchen Walsh, at 22.75 seconds during the same trials.
