Two years after the patient's death, St. Imre Hospital expressed its condolences for the "professional negligence".
The National Public Health and Medical Officer Service identified professional shortcomings and documentation violations at Szent Imre Hospital in Budapest, resulting in a 500,000 HUF fine. An investigation revealed that a 89-year-old patient, Piroska, did not receive an EKG despite her severe symptoms, leading to her death shortly after leaving the hospital. The hospital's internal review found no malpractice, but the NNGYK concluded that the lack of an EKG constituted a professional failure. Following this incident, the hospital implemented measures to enhance patient safety, including improved triage processes and staff training. Piroska's family expressed appreciation for the hospital's acknowledgment of responsibility and the new measures, though they questioned the timing of these changes.
