Twice as many public interest reports were received regarding public procurements as last year
The number of public interest reports has doubled in the first nine months of this year, rising from 75 to 154 compared to the same period last year, according to MTI. Kovács László, the head of the authority, emphasized the importance of investigating these reports for ensuring transparency and uncovering corruption risks. The number of legal proceedings initiated after these reports has also increased, with results expected to be visible by the end of 2026 or early 2027. Additionally, public procurement contracts increased by 7.7% to 12,481, with a total value of 2,627 billion HUF, marking a 9.1% annual growth. Small and medium-sized enterprises secured 9,250 contracts worth 1,363.2 billion HUF, accounting for nearly three-quarters of the contracts and over half of the total value. The share of contracts related to negotiations without announcements decreased in both national and EU procedures compared to previous years.
