It has been revealed what will happen to the baby waiting scheme if the baby does not arrive
András Kármán discussed the new conditions for the baby waiting loan, emphasizing support rather than penalties. The government previously planned to impose penalties for not having a child within five years, but this was never enforced. The new regulations include no penalties for those who can medically prove a child was not born, automatic extensions for ongoing fertility treatments or adoptions, and interest-free repayment for two years in case of divorce. Low-income households will benefit from a one million forint waiver on repayable interest support if their income is below the minimum wage, along with four years of interest-free repayment. Affected individuals will receive notifications from their banks in December.
