It turned out how much the Orbán government missed the mark with the deficit and public debt as it approached its last full year in office.

The central budget deficit for last year exceeded expectations by 34.5%, reaching 4,223 billion HUF. The planned operational deficit was 1,005 billion HUF, while the EU development budget deficit was 1,893 billion HUF, higher than anticipated. The approved budget projected a GDP ratio of public debt at 73.2% by the end of 2024, but it actually reached 73.5%. Economic growth was expected at 3-5%, but only achieved 0.3%.
