The public procurement for the planning of the extension of the Buda tram network in Óbuda has been announced
The BKK has announced a public procurement for the planning of the extension of the Budai tram network to Óbuda. This new 3.5-kilometer tram line will provide an accessible connection between downtown Budapest, Óbuda, and the Kaszásdűlő HÉV station. The planned route will run through key areas, enhancing the existing tram network and offering a faster alternative to the heavily trafficked 9 bus line. The project aims to restore a tram line that was dismantled in 1981, potentially benefiting 30,000 to 40,000 daily passengers. The planning process is expected to take about two and a half years, followed by construction once funding is secured.
