Volkswagen may install Chinese software in European cars
Volkswagen is considering adopting the software used in its Chinese vehicles for its European models. This move may impact its American partner, Rivian, as Volkswagen has previously developed separate software for Western markets. The company currently utilizes the China Electronic Architecture for its Chinese cars, and if implemented, this software could also serve models from Volkswagen, Skoda, and Cupra. The proposal, which could affect about three-quarters of the next generation of models, is expected to be presented by Thomas Schäfer to the management soon. Volkswagen faces challenges in keeping up with software development compared to Chinese manufacturers due to its complex model range.
