The forint started with a slight weakening after the major economic announcements
The Hungarian forint weakened slightly against major currencies following significant economic announcements. As of Wednesday morning, the euro was quoted at 364.26 HUF, up from 363.97 HUF the previous afternoon. The dollar rose from 324.08 HUF to 324.50 HUF, while the Swiss franc increased from 392.32 HUF to 393.31 HUF. Since early October, the forint has strengthened by 0.7% against the euro but weakened against the dollar and Swiss franc. Year-to-date, the forint has appreciated against all three currencies. The strengthening trend began after the Tisza Party's electoral victory in April. The Hungarian National Bank maintained the base interest rate at 5.5%, which supports forint investments. Economic uncertainties and geopolitical factors continue to influence monetary policy decisions.
