Small group of billionaires emits more than billions of poor people

According to Oxfam's analysis, the wealthiest group comprises about eight million people, representing 0.1% of the global population, whose carbon footprint exceeds that of the poorest 44%. Their high emissions stem from consumption behaviors, including private jets, luxury homes, and investments in polluting sectors. The richest thousand billionaires contributed approximately 486 million tons of CO2-equivalent emissions last year, comparable to the annual emissions of 100 million cars or Australia. Oxfam attributes 7% of global warming since 1990 to this elite group, while poorer populations, despite having a smaller footprint, face greater climate disaster impacts due to their living conditions. The upcoming climate summit will address the distribution of responsibility for climate issues between wealthy and poorer nations.
