Comedian joked about Xi Jinping. The Chinese commissioned an assassination.

Five individuals have been charged in connection with a planned attack on Taiwanese comedian Huang Yi-hao, who was injured in a hit-and-run incident. Prosecutors determined that the incident was orchestrated by a mysterious individual from the People's Republic of China, known only as "K." The attack occurred on September 11 in New Taipei, where Huang was struck by a car while riding his scooter. Surveillance footage revealed that the assailants had been waiting for him since early morning. The attackers were allegedly hired to incapacitate Huang before a scheduled performance. This incident follows a previous attack on Huang's comedy club, linked to his satirical skit about Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which had gone viral. Huang expressed concern over freedom of speech in Taiwan amid these threats.
