A serious state bankruptcy situation may arise in Brazil – believes our expert while analyzing the elections
The New York Times reported that Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won the Brazilian elections against right-wing candidate Flavio Bolsonaro, marking a halt to the right-wing surge in Latin America. Lula secured 52% of the votes compared to Bolsonaro's 48%. Following the announcement, Bolsonaro claimed fraud and refused to accept the results, although his party later acknowledged them. Expert Gyula Nagy Sándor noted that while protests may occur, the right-wing's chances of a coup are slim, as previous attempts have failed despite Bolsonaro's family's influence in the military and police. He emphasized that without presidential support, the right-wing majority in parliament cannot achieve significant outcomes regarding the election results.
