MEPs see serious changes in Hungary, but "such power comes with responsibility"

A European Parliament delegation visited Budapest to assess the state of rule of law in Hungary. This visit follows ongoing scrutiny related to Article 7 proceedings. The delegation met with various stakeholders, including government officials and civil society representatives. They noted improvements in the government's commitment to democracy and rule of law, although concerns remain regarding parliamentary mandates and judicial transparency. The delegation leader highlighted significant reforms but emphasized that restoring rule of law requires time and political will. The findings will inform future discussions in the European Parliament regarding the Article 7 procedure.
