Szalay-Bobrovniczky Kristóf flew with military aircraft for nearly 800 million, most of the money went to airport services
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, the former Minister of Defense, spent 794 million HUF on military flights during the 2022-2026 government cycle, significantly exceeding other travel expenses. The costs for 77 flights accounted for 85% of his missions, primarily using the Airbus A319 and Falcon jets. Most trips involved short distances, with notable expenses for airport services totaling 463 million HUF. The costs surged after the military outsourced ground services, with a significant increase in fees at frequently visited airports. A public procurement for ground services worth 7.3 billion HUF was awarded to HM EI Zrt., linked to Gábor Máté, who previously led the aviation division. The ministry stated ongoing audits and potential legal actions if any violations are suspected.
