Producer prices in the industry have not risen this much in almost a year and a half
In September, industrial producer prices in Hungary rose by 6.9% compared to the previous year, marking the highest increase since May 2022. Month-on-month, prices increased by 1.6% from August. This rise indicates higher production costs, which may eventually affect consumer prices if sustained. The current low inflation is partly due to the strengthening of the forint, which helps keep imported goods' prices stable. Domestic producer prices increased by an average of 7.2%, with energy sector prices rising by 9.7% and manufacturing by 5.7%. For export goods, the average price increase was 6.7%, driven by a significant 56.8% rise in energy prices, while manufacturing saw only a 2.2% increase. Overall, producer prices were 0.8% higher in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2025.
