Several Norwegian media outlets are suing Meta together because they do not want the company to steal their content with AI.

Ten Norwegian media organizations have filed a lawsuit against Meta, claiming that the company's new terms for business accounts undermine publishers' control over their journalistic work and allow AI to collect and use their content without consent. Meta announced the changes on October 8, initially set for implementation on October 30, later postponed to November 20, to provide more time for explanation to partners. Critics argue that the changes force news providers into an all-or-nothing choice: either allow Meta to use their content or lose their presence on Facebook and Instagram. The media groups stated that Meta is using their investments to develop AI services that compete directly with them, distorting competition. They have requested a temporary suspension of the changes from the Oslo District Court until the case is resolved, with plaintiffs including NRK, Schibsted, Amedia, Polaris, Aller, and NTB.
