Consumer loans under new rules. The government publishes the assumptions for the bill

The Polish Ministry of Justice has proposed a new consumer credit law to replace existing regulations, prompted by EU directive 2023/2225. Initially assigned to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, the project was transferred to the Ministry in May by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Key changes include limiting the application of free credit sanctions to serious violations and raising the consumer credit limit to 437,700 PLN. The law aims to ensure consumer protection by requiring explicit consent for credit agreements and introducing stricter advertising regulations. The Ministry is still finalizing the details of the legislation.
