Kristin. Leiria wants to extend the deadline for applications to the fund
The Intermunicipal Community of Leiria is advocating for an extension of the application deadline for the Municipal Emergency Fund due to the complexity of the applications and the need for professional evaluations. President Jorge Vala emphasized the urgency of a meeting with the Secretary of State to discuss the importance of this extension and potential simplifications in the application process. The CIM has already spent around 450,000 euros on technical evaluations but faces delays in payments to professionals involved in assessing reconstruction applications. No municipalities within the CIM have submitted applications for the fund, which allows for up to 60% reimbursement for damages caused by recent storms. Vala expressed concerns about the limited resources available for processing these applications, especially with the upcoming holiday season.
