KU Leuven and Google digitize over 100,000 books from Leuven libraries
KU Leuven and Google have completed a project digitizing over 101,000 books from Leuven's collections, making them freely accessible online. The final batch of 5,000 books has returned to Leuven, allowing users to search and view the texts through advanced recognition technology. Since the collaboration began, the digital works have been accessed over 50 million times via Google Books. The books originate from four collections, and the initiative aims to enhance global access while preserving the original copies for future generations.
