When buying glasses, one can benefit from NFZ reimbursement. In 2026, it will be even 700 PLN.

To receive reimbursement from the NFZ for glasses or contact lenses, specific conditions must be met. The process begins with a visit to a family doctor for a referral to an ophthalmologist. If a vision defect qualifying for reimbursement is diagnosed, the ophthalmologist issues a medical supply order. This order can be fulfilled at an optical store contracted with the NFZ, where the cost of glasses is reduced by the reimbursement amount. The NFZ covers only the lenses, while the patient pays for the frames. Adults have a co-payment ranging from 10% to 30% based on their vision defect, while children under 18 are exempt from co-payments and can receive reimbursements every six months. Additionally, the NFZ also funds contact lenses and eye prostheses under specific medical conditions, with annual reimbursements available.
