Saudi Arabia announces it has intercepted a Houthi drone in the Mecca region, pro-Iranian fighters deny it

On October 30, the Saudi-led coalition reported intercepting a drone launched by Houthi fighters near Mecca, which the Houthis denied. Saudi Arabia has previously accused the Houthis of targeting Mecca and Medina. The conflict in Yemen has escalated since July, with daily exchanges of strikes between the Houthis and Saudi forces. In September, the Houthis intensified their offensive in western Yemen, gaining control over the strategic Bab Al-Mandab Strait. Riyadh is seeking international support, with Egypt providing military assistance, while the U.S. has not responded. Recent attacks have resulted in over 1,600 deaths and significant displacement, with no diplomatic resolution in sight.
