The appeal of young people for fitness and bodybuilding drives the commercial success of gyms

A former Ferrari dealership in Mérignac has been transformed into a large gym by Basic-Fit, featuring 150 new machines across 2,700 square meters. This new facility can accommodate 300 people simultaneously, doubling the size of the previous location. The fitness industry is expanding rapidly, with Basic-Fit operating 18 clubs in the Bordeaux area and around 900 in France. Competitors like Fitness Park and L’Orange bleue are also opening new locations. The growth is driven by young adults flocking to gyms. Recently, Groupe Bernard Hayot acquired Keepcool and Neoness, adding nearly 300 clubs to its portfolio, while Fitness Park secured significant investment from Carlyle.
