The Court of Auditors warns about the "extremely precarious situation" of social finances

On October 20, the Court of Auditors urged the government and parliament to restore Social Security to a balanced trajectory by 2030. In a report released before the budget examination for 2027, the Court emphasized the necessity of financial recovery in the coming year. The report highlights a persistent high deficit of €21.8 billion for 2026, worsening by €2.4 billion compared to initial targets, largely due to a deteriorating macroeconomic context, including the Middle East conflict.
