The writer Eva Baltasar wins the prestigious award: "I feel less alone thanks to the readers"

Eva Baltasar has won the Médicis Étranger prize for her novel 'Ocàs i fascinació', marking the first time a work originally in Catalan receives this honor. The French edition, translated by Annie Bats, has gained international recognition. Baltasar expressed her joy in sharing her characters with readers, feeling less alone in a fragile world. She highlighted the significance of this award for Catalan literature, especially as it comes from France. Previously a finalist for the same prize, Baltasar's works have attracted interest for adaptations, including by filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar. Other finalists this year included notable authors from various backgrounds.
