The management of depression in pregnant women benefits the brain development of the newborn

A recent study published in Nature Communications examines the effects of psychotherapy on pregnant women with depression and its impact on infant brain development. Conducted with a randomized trial involving 109 women, half received psychotherapy while the others received standard care. The study assessed the brain volumes of infants at six weeks and their emotional responses at six months. Results showed a statistically significant difference between the two groups, indicating potential benefits of psychotherapy during pregnancy.
