Countries of the Mecca pact come together for the first time for talks in Tehran

Representatives from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey met in Tehran for the first time since signing the Mekka Pact, aimed at military cooperation. This meeting comes amid ongoing attacks by Iranian-backed Houthis on Saudi infrastructure, testing the pact's commitment to mutual defense. Despite the pact's intentions, Turkey and Pakistan have been cautious about providing military support to Saudi Arabia. The geopolitical landscape is shifting as Gulf states seek new partnerships due to the unpredictable role of the US in the region. While military aid is being discussed, both Turkey and Pakistan have clarified that they will not engage in offensive actions against the Houthis.
