Judit Lannert: The national competency measurement will be renewed
Hungary's national competency assessment system will be renewed, as announced by Education Minister Judit Lannert. The new system aims to better support children's development and school performance. Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, assessments will only occur in grades 4, 6, 8, and 10, focusing on reading comprehension and math skills, with additional subjects for higher grades. A parental background questionnaire will be introduced to provide insights into the impact of family circumstances on student performance. Recent results showed improvements in most areas, although some grades experienced declines. The assessments will include various subjects, with significant changes noted in science and digital culture results.
