The NAV struck down on ventilator purchases, the authority raided in Austria

A criminal organization allegedly laundered over 3 billion HUF and evaded 660 million HUF in taxes by selling ventilators and masks during the pandemic. The Hungarian tax authority conducted coordinated raids both domestically and in Austria, leading to the arrest of one suspect and questioning of eleven others. The organization created a network of companies to issue false invoices, reducing VAT on sales. The state paid 15.6 billion HUF for the equipment, much of which remains unused. The investigation continues into budget fraud and money laundering, with calls for transparency in healthcare spending.
